I was born in rural Wisconsin, near some barns and cows or something. Somehow, I managed to find my way to Deep South Texas and muddle through an MFA program at the University of Texas Pan American. My emphasis was (and still is) poetry.
Now, I teach literature, creative writing, feminist rhetoric, and, of course, freshmen composition at UT-RGV. I also do a lot of writing, which means I also do a lot of reading. My interests include formal poetry, revisionist myth, feminisms, and regional literature. If I’m not reading/writing/teaching/pulling out my hair in frustration, then you can bet I’m watching old episodes of Star Trek on Netflix. I have a serious thing for Klingons. And to a lesser extent, Cardassians (they remind me of English professors).
